Pediatric Physical Therapy in Tucson

Physical therapists are movement specialists. Our goal is to help children ages 0+ to move their bodies in a safe and effective manner. Physical therapy can address pediatric disorders and impairments in strength, flexibility, movement patterns, body coordination, balance, development, and so much more! We provide services focused on improving overall independence with everyday activities, such as functional mobility, activities of daily living, environmental exploration, and play skills. We will work as a team with you and your child to establish personalized goals, develop a plan of care, and provide parent training and home exercise programs to assist with carryover of skills in their everyday environment.

An evaluation is our time to get to know both you and your child. The evaluation will last approximately 45-60 minutes. Please arrive 30 minutes early to fill out paperwork. The evaluation will consist of an interview regarding your concerns, significant past medical history, goals for physical therapy, and any other information necessary for us to understand the full picture of your child. This time will include an opportunity to establish a therapeutic relationship between provider and child. Aspects we will assess may include movement/function, strength, range of motion, coordination, balance, safety, and more. We will perform a standardized outcome measure specific to the pediatric population to evaluate your child’s performance, function, and participation compared to children of similar age. Once the examination is complete, we will discuss our findings, recommendations, and plan of care to best assist your child to achieve their goals.

Treatment sessions are individualized to meet your child’s unique needs. A session lasts approximately 30-60 minutes. Treatment sessions will be constructed to include age-appropriate activities/games to keep your child engaged while working towards the established goals. There are opportunities to perform co-treatment sessions with your child’s other providers at Therapy Group of Tucson, if scheduling allows and if deemed appropriate for your child’s needs.
